The Durango Food Bank cannot carry out its mission and vision without the help and support of its generous and dedicated volunteers. Please refer to our Volunteer Handbook to see what the volunteer roles are and to determine what would be a best fit for you. Non-community service volunteers are required to complete the Volunteer Application documents included in our Volunteer Packet. Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Durango Food Bank!
The Process:
Please download and fill out the volunteer packet and email to info@durangofoodbank.org. Once we receive your information we will be in touch about next steps.
Next Steps:
After discussing which days/hours you’d like to volunteer. We will get you on our schedule for a training/shadowing volunteer day. Once you determine which volunteer position/s you’d like to participate in, we will get your signed up on our volunteer schedule.
Below is a general list of volunteer opportunities:
Distribution Days are Tuesdays and consist of two shifts: 9:00am-12:00pm and 1:30pm-5:30pm. We encourage volunteers to commit to two shifts per month and we require these volunteers to commit to the whole four (4) hour shift (either morning or afternoon).
Non-Distribution Volunteer Days are Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:00am-4:00pm. This is great for individuals who are looking for a flexible, accommodating volunteer shift. These shifts are filled with special projects and tasks like re-stocking shelves, sorting food, assembling boxes of dry goods, etc.
Weekends: We occasionally have weekend service opportunities for special events or activities.
One-time (or occasional) Group of Volunteers (ie youth groups, clubs, etc.): If you are interested in coming in as a group for a one time (or occasional) service project, please email us at info@durangofoodbank.org with as many specifics about your group as possible. We can host groups after hours and any day of the week, given enough notice.
Court-Ordered Community Service Volunteers (DO NOT Complete Volunteer Application): We appreciate your interest in doing your community services hours with us! Please note that you must call ahead and get on the schedule, drop-ins will not be guaranteed a position. You must also bring your required paperwork in order to begin working on a scheduled shift. If you do not bring your paperwork, you will not be allowed to work!
